Terms & conditions

Last updated: July 2026

These terms explain how Speak to Alice works, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. We've kept them in plain English.

Speak to Alice is a new business, and these are our starting terms — written to be fair and clear. If you have any questions about them, email us any time at hello@speaktoalice.io.

Who we are

Speak to Alice provides AI call-answering and messaging services to UK businesses. In these terms, "we", "us" and "Alice" mean Speak to Alice, and "you" means the business using the service. You can reach us at hello@speaktoalice.io.

What we do

Alice answers your calls, replies to messages, books appointments and can reply to your online reviews, depending on the plan you choose. We set the service up around your business, and you can start using it once it's live.

Getting set up

To use Alice, you give us the details we need to answer for your business — your services, opening hours, common questions and how you'd like calls handled. You're responsible for making sure that information is accurate and kept up to date. You'll also forward your calls to the number we provide.

Fees and payment

You pay a monthly fee for the plan you're on, due monthly in advance. If there are any usage-based charges (for example, call minutes above your plan), we'll make them clear before you're charged. Fees are exclusive of VAT unless we say otherwise.

No contract — cancel any time

There's no minimum term. You can cancel whenever you like, and your service runs until the end of the month you've paid for. We won't tie you in.

Refunds

Where we advertise a specific promise — such as a money-back guarantee — we'll honour it exactly as described on our website at the time you signed up. Otherwise, monthly fees already paid aren't normally refundable, but if something's gone wrong, talk to us and we'll be fair.

Phone numbers

Any phone number we provide stays ours while you're a customer, for you to use with the service. You keep your own existing number — you simply forward calls to Alice. If you ever want to move a number we provided over to your own account, talk to us and we'll help where we can.

Alice is an AI

Alice is an artificial-intelligence assistant, not a human. We work hard to make her accurate, natural and helpful, but no automated system is perfect — she may occasionally mishear, misunderstand, or be unavailable. You're responsible for checking anything important, such as confirming bookings or acting on urgent messages, and Alice should not be relied on for emergencies. If a caller asks, Alice will always be honest that she's an AI.

Using the service properly

You agree not to use Alice for anything unlawful, misleading or harmful, and to make sure the way you use her follows the law — including letting your callers know, where required, that calls may be recorded or handled by an AI. You're responsible for what you ask Alice to do on your behalf.

Your customers' information

When Alice handles calls and messages, she processes information about your customers on your behalf. That information remains yours; we only handle it to provide the service, and as described in our privacy notice. If you need a formal data-processing agreement, just ask.

Keeping the service running

We aim to keep Alice available around the clock, but we can't promise the service will never be interrupted — for example during maintenance, or because of problems with networks or suppliers outside our control. We'll do our best to keep any downtime short and to let you know about planned work.

Where our responsibility ends

We'll always do our best for you, but we can't accept responsibility for business you might lose — for example a call Alice couldn't handle, or a message that didn't get through. As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the fees you've paid us in the previous three months. Nothing in these terms limits anything that can't legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Our brand and website

The Speak to Alice name, the Alice character, this website and its content belong to us. You're welcome to use the service, but please don't copy, resell or pass off our brand as your own without our written agreement.

Changes

We may update the service and these terms from time to time. If we make an important change, we'll let customers know. Carrying on using Alice after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Alice at any time. We may suspend or end the service if these terms are broken, if fees aren't paid, or if we have to for legal or safety reasons. If we end things without good reason, we'll refund any fees you've paid for service you haven't yet received.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales.
